Year Pillar
It represents your heritage, your family of origin, and the culture that shaped you. It is the face you show the world in broader contexts.
Ancestral Wisdom
BaZi is not a sentence carved in stone. It is an energy map: a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment of your birth, drawn so you can understand your inclinations, challenges, and resources.
BaZi (八字) literally means "Eight Characters." Every person is born with four pillars — year, month, day, and hour — and each pillar contains two characters: one celestial (the stem) and one earthly (the branch). Together they form the eight characters that describe your energetic signature.
Think of it as an inner compass. It does not tell you where you must go, but which winds blow in your favor at different moments of your life. You remain the captain of your own ship.
It represents your heritage, your family of origin, and the culture that shaped you. It is the face you show the world in broader contexts.
It speaks to your adult stage, career, and relationship with society. Many call it the "father-mother" pillar and the pillar of your work in the world.
It is the most personal. The day stem represents your essential self: how you perceive yourself, what you need, and how you relate in partnership.
It reveals your inner world, your future projects, your children, and the way you process emotions in private.
The day stem is your dominant element. You can be Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, or Metal. This element does not box you in; it describes your natural way of moving through the world.
At MING we do not believe in charts that condemn or predictions that paralyze. BaZi is an invitation to know yourself better, not a label that limits you. If your chart shows a lot of water, you are not "too emotional"; you are someone with deep intuition who can learn to channel it.
"Destiny is the paper; your awareness is the ink. BaZi only shows you the canvas. You decide what story to write."
In the MING app we calculate your Four Pillars with the Li Chun adjustment and show you your dominant element, your totem animals, and your daily energy compass.
